Rock Photography: Photographing the Cycle Pt. 1 w Anabel and Jeremy

This is an ALL AGES event open to any photographers (pro, amateur, hobby, etc)

Join SIGMA ambassador Anabel DFlux and Jeremy Saffer as they take you on the campaign trail.

Often times photographers are tasked with photographing an entire campaign for an artist including an album cover, promotional images, exclusive editorial images for various outlets, endorsement images, magazine covers, vast social media content and more... all in a single shoot. These are called record cycle or campaign shoots.

In days two and three of the four day workshop, Anabel and Jeremy will take you through both of their individual and distinct processes of taking on a campaign shoot. Navigating and responding to first contact with the client, through the shoot, and all the way to the final published images, leaving you with the knowledge of not only how to tackle a full cycle shoot but also giving you the hands on experience of taking on a full campaign shoot yourself.

On Day 1: Anabel and Jeremy will be focusing on capturing the album cover, getting that perfect iconic piece of art that sells the album, merch, and beyond as well as the band photos for the album and the various matching social media content needed to connect the band to their fans, and their fans to your art.

First Contact: everything you need to know before you take on the job

Pre-production: everything you have to do prior to the photo shoot

The cover: photographing album cover art A: from a blank slate J: from a provided concept

Band Shoot: getting the matching band shots needed for the album art

Social Media Content: capturing a variety of content to drive the online communities toward the band and your art

Closing the shoot: wrap up and invoicing.

After the shoot: deliverables, turn around and publishing.

Down the road: mid cycle supplements, and retaining the client.

10:00 a.m – 7:00 p.m.

10:00 a.m. – Intro to campaign shoots

10:30 a.m. – First contact and pre-production of a shoot

11:00 a.m. – The Cover: photographing album art

11:30 a.m. – Photographing the band (album art) - social media

12:00 p.m. – Break / Lunch (Time may vary)

12:30 p.m. – Pre-shoot QnA with guest/band.

1:00 p.m. – Live Shoot: Jeremy and anabel photograph guest bands

2:30 p.m. – Live Shoot: Students photograph guest bands

6:00 p.m. – Wrap up/final band QnA/feedback

7:00 p.m. – Wrap/QnA

Anyone with an interest in portrait photography and lighting will gain much from this program. Music photographers looking to get into music portraiture. Any photographers who want the chance to photograph a band using professional lighting in a studio setting.

Having a basic understanding of photography, camera settings, and being familiar with your camera is important but students do not need any prior lighting experience.

Bring your camera with you, we will be using Nanlite lighting and there will be plenty of SIGMA lenses available for you to try/use. There will also be a Leica mirrorless camera available for students to try/use.

This workshop will use 100% Nanlite LED lighting! Whether you have some experience or you're a LED Newbie, this is an EXCELLENT way to get experienced with this form of lighting that’s practical, easy to set up, and visually stunning! Photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend!

We will also use Atmosphere Aerosol and Fog effects for this shoot.
